Day 4- Červený Kameň’s castle and Brastislava
On Wednesday’s morning, we went to Červený Kameň’s castle and we visited it. This castle has many rooms with preserved furniture of the middle ages. There were a lot of paintings of the different people living in the latter and some armors of this age. Also, we saw many weapons like guns and crossbows for ranged weapons and halberds and maces for melee weapons. Next, we saw the castle basement and its utility: some parts were here to protect the building against the enemies and the others were to stock food and équipements.
Then we headed to Bratislava - the capital of Slovakia- which is just 20km from Austria, 50 km from Hungary and 100 km from Czech Republic. We had our meal -traditional dishes- in a former theater which was used during Soviet times but has now been rehabilitated. Then Slovaks showed us famous buildings of the capital, Bratislava.
First, Sloviaks’ students showed us the St. Michael's Gate and his compass, indicating many major cities like New York or Paris. After that, we saw other important monuments of the city: the facade of Palugyay Palace, Roland’s fountain, Primatial Palace, St. George’s fountain and Čumil, which is a bronze statue of a man emerging from the sewers. Finally, we went to Bratislava castle in order to go to the parliament where we had the chance to meet a member of parliament to explain our project.
